Glenn Adams

Glenn Adams was born in Montreal in 1928. He attended McGill University, graduating with a Ph.D in Physics and Engineering in 1953. He began painting in 1958, attending evening classes at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts and McGill Univerity and participating in summer school at Mount Allison University. In 2006, a major retrospective exhibition of Glenn’s work was organized by Owens Arts Gallery.

Glenn spent the 1962-63 academic year studing at Mount Allison under Alex Colville and L.P. Harris. Adams explains,“I began painting at the age of thirty. Having a background in mathematics and engineering I tended to paint in a precise, realist manner, very unconventional at that time. I discovered the work of Alex Colville in 1960, and this was a great encouragement to me. I am fortunate to have attended Mount Allison while he was still teaching.” Glenn Adams works are found in the collections of The Canada Council Art Bank, the Tides Institute, Eastport, Maine USA, Art Gallery of Nova Scotia, C.I.L., New Brunswick Art Bank, and the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, as well as many private collections.
