Jane Hunter
Jane
Hunter was born in Toronto in 1951 and although she lived in Peterborough,
Ontario for 18 years, she returned to Toronto to attend the Ontario College
of Art.
Jane has exhibited her paintings and lino block prints in many private
and public exhibitions in Ontario and New Brunswick. She was elected VP
of the Ontario Society of Artists and elected to the Canadian Society
of Painters in Watercolour. In 1995 and in 1999 she received the Award
of Excellence from the CSPW.
Jane has been a contributing artist of Fog Forest Gallery since 1991.
Her watercolour still-life paintings are intimate glimpses into neighbourhood
streetscapes. She says of her work,It is important to me that my
paintings contain an element of mystery. I am intrigued by darkness and
the effects of light shining through it, whether it is electric light,
sunlight, candlelight, or the glow of the sky at twilight.
Her works are in many private collections in Canada and abroad. Her works
are also found in the corporate collections of Texaco Canada and the Metropolitan
Library Archives Collections and The Royal Collection at Windsor Castle.
