Peggy Sue Payne

Peggy Sue Payne, a native of Prince Edward Island, received a textile studies diploma from the College of the North Atlantic in St. John’s, Newfoundland. She is currently enrolled in the Fine Arts programme at Mount Allison University in Sackville, New Brunswick and will graduate with her BFA on May 17, 2010. Congratulations Peggy Sue!

For environmental reasons she chooses to not dye her own fabric but rather to work with found materials which consist primarily of used cotton t-shirts.

Her hooked mats are finely crafted examples of this traditional medium, however her highly developed sense of design and contemporary use of colour give her work fresh appeal. In her final year in the Fine Art programme, Peggy Sue explored large scale mixed media drawing techniques inspired by the natural world of birds, insects and amphibians.
