Don Pentz
Don
Pentz, a native of Bridgewater, Nova Scotia, studied art at Mount Allison
University and graduated with a BFA in 1966. He earned his MFA from the
University of Regina in 1979 and during the summer of that same year,
studied at the Banff School of Fine Art in Alberta.
An avid outdoors man, Don has an intimate understanding of what he paints
as he strives to capture a convincing sense of light and strong composition
in his work. In addition to the studio work, he enjoys working on location
with oils or watercolours. This occasional change to plein air
painting allows for a more spontaneous approach to making art, and is
a refreshing release from the more controlled studio environment. Don
is comfortable working in a variety of media; oils, watercolours, acrylics
as well as serigraphy and stone lithography printmaking.
He has exhibited in major solo and group exhibitions in public and private
galleries throughout Canada, the United States, Japan and England. His
works are found in collections such as: Canada Council Art Bank, the Art
Gallery of Nova Scotia, Shell Canada, St. Marys University, Sun
Life of Canada, Osaka Foundation of Culture, Irving Ltd., Imperial Oil
to name a few.
