Jon Sawyer

Jon Sawyer has been working with glass for the past twenty years and is still intrigued by this fascinating molten material. Using skills that are centuries old, he creates light filled art forms that glow with warmth and colour.

Jon was first introduced to glass blowing techniques while at the Georgian College of Applied Arts and Technology in Ontario. He moved to New Brunswick and apprenticed at the Demaine Studios. He continued to develop his skill and approach to design at the Alberta College of Art and at the renown Haystack School of Crafts in the United States.
Jon Sawyer’s unique glass works have been included in exhibitions such as Harbour Square Gallery in Maine; the Canadian Clay and Glass Gallery, The Dunes Gallery in PEI, private galleries in both Toronto and Ottawa as well as being included in selective exhibitions juried by the New Brunswick Crafts Council. His works are found in the Massey Foundation collection.

Mr. Sawyer was awarded the Best New Product at the Atlantic Craft Trade Show in Halifax, N.S. in 1997 and again at the Nova Scotia Designer Craftsman Council Christmas Show in 1995. He was also recognized during the New Brunswick Crafts Council Christmas Show in 1995 with the Best New Product award.
